Earlier in the week I almost struggled, after what was basically a week off, to get back into the swing of things at the gym. I really wasn’t used to that long of a break and definitely was not accustomed to eating unclean and drinking alcohol regularly. Maybe it was psychosomatic, but I could not lift as much and my head was not in the game. And then I watched a video that pretty much lit a fire under my ass! Whether or not you are a Floyd Mayweather, Jr. fan – I can understand how easy it is to hate the guy – fact remains he is undefeated and is electrifying to watch train. He partially inspired me, I love boxing and boxing styled training, but the spoken word piece in the background is what really lit the fire. It made me remember my goals and get out of bed.
I am not a fan of AM gym trips. I am far from a morning person, typically I have to set 3 alarms and sometimes that won’t even work; however, the video below (Success. How Bad Do You Want It) inspired me to get up at 6:30 AM and go lift for an hour and a half. I decided to grab my old iPod for some perfect lifting tunes – Rage Against the Machine. That band has been getting me amped in the gym for years. Had a great arm and chest workout, made some new morning buddies, now I just have to try to get myself back there first thing in the morning and try to keep them. I just have to figure out how to make this video my AM gym alarm – although “Look at Me Now” sometimes does the trick.
